April flowers and showers

Hello lovelies!

I have to say that April in the UK is a constant guessing game about which coat to wear, whether it’s going to rain in five minutes, or if you need to put sunscreen on, sometimes all in one day! I do love seeing the blossom and the emerging flowers though, it always makes me feel hopeful even in challenging times.

I’m still writing away at all kinds of things but the next book actually coming out will be my historical fiction Chelsea Girls under Catherine Lloyd in June. It’s based on the life of Mary Quant the fashion designer in the late 50’s and 60’s. I’m very proud of this one. It was a new venture for me and took a year of researching before I was really able to put it together.

In September there will be book 2: How To Ruin A Rake of my Regency romance. It’s always great fun to write a battling couple stuck together on a disastrous road trip. Originally my novella in Hometown Fall with Diana Palmer was due to come out the same day but unfortunately my co-author hasn’t been well and that release date has been set back until next year. I’m wishing her all the best.

Before September I’ll be releasing a one off novel that I’ve been working on for a few years just for fun. It’s a contemporary romcom-esque, if that’s a word, and I thought it would be lovely to publish it. I’ll tell you all about it in the next newsletter. :)

Wishing you all a beautiful month,

Kate x

Chelsea Girls pre-order (release date June 30th)

A glamorous and revealing biographical novel for readers of Renee Rosen, Allison Pataki, and Fiona Davis, starring one of Swinging London’s defining figures, Mary Quant, who made history with the miniskirt, slashed hemlines, and transformed more than fashion, for herself, for her friends, and for a generation.

“A lively, entertaining window into the story behind the styles, expectations, and new freedoms that reshaped women’s lives on both sides of the Atlantic.”—Stephanie Dray, New York Times bestselling author of Becoming Madam Secretary

Post-war London is a city in flux, with burned-out buildings serving as vivid reminders of the past. But beneath those scars is a sense of resurging optimism. Chrissie Walker, a new student at Goldsmiths arts college, feels it keenly. So does Mary Quant, the auburn-haired classmate who becomes Chrissie’s best friend.

Like Chrissie, Mary wants more from life than to nab a husband and settle down. Though shy, Mary shows her daring in subtle ways, including her home-sewn clothes. Designed to run and move in, her outfits inspire Chrissie and others to reinvent their own style. They also catch the eye of charismatic fellow student Alexander Plunket Greene, who becomes Mary’s partner and helps fund the opening of Bazaar, a King’s Road shop that marks the beginning of an empire.

Dresses with ever-rising hemlines, skinny-rib sweaters and Peter Pan collars, boldly patterned tights and scarves—Mary Quant’s “Chelsea look” becomes a sensation among socialites, working-class girls, and everyone in between. As the miniskirt becomes a global phenomenon, Mary Quant ignites a fashion revolution that transforms everyone in its orbit—including Chrissie, who must reconcile her own ambitions with her friend’s fame, debutante Daphne, whose life opens up in unexpected ways, and Fern, an aspiring model who will become an icon.

In the years that follow, each will deal with the public and personal challenges faced by unconventional women willing to break the rules—and in the process, transform the world.

A free kinky romance book for you: Training Maisy by Samantha Morgan

Carter doesn’t ask. He commands.
And the second his eyes lock on me, my body answers.

One night. That’s all it takes for me to learn what it means to kneel, to yield, to crave a man who owns every inch of me. Carter knows exactly how to unravel me—how to break me down until the only word left on my lips is please.

But instead of keeping me, he pushes me away. He says it’s against the rules. I know the truth. He’s afraid. Afraid of how deep this runs. Afraid that I’m not just another submissive.

When my abusive ex comes storming back into my life, I don’t need a trainer.
I need a Dom who won’t let me go.

Carter swears he can protect me without touching me again.
But the first time he wraps his fist in my hair, I know he’s lying.
And I pray he never stops.

Hello lovely readers, I would like to say that Spring has sprung here but it wouldn’t be true. We’re in what I refer to as ‘false spring’ and ‘I don’t know which coat to wear when I go out’ weather. The daffodils are providing an optimistic brightness and it’s no longer dark in the morning so I’ll take it and hope for more. I did visit Hay On Wye last week, which is known as ‘Book Town’ because there are more second hand bookstores there than anywhere else in the country—40+ I believe in a...

Hello lovelies, and are we all pleased that January is finally over? My birthday’s in January so I always enjoy that, but not much else. We didn’t have any snow just lots of rain. I did get to visit Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, which was inspiring, and my husband took me out for lunch at a lovely restaurant called The Pig, so I had a wonderful day! Book wise it’s time to think about what I’m writing this year. You’ll be getting book 2 in the Regency historical romance series, How To Ruin A...

Happy new year my lovelies! We had the tiniest sprinkling of snow this morning, but the sky is still blue, and the sun is shining, so I don’t mind the cold. We had a lovely Christmas with our kids, heard Christmas carols sung by the world famous Wells Cathedral choir, walked the Christmas light trail at Stourhead, (a National Trust stately home), and watched all our favourite movies. I hope you all had an excellent holiday season, too! I finished up two projects over the holidays: How To Ruin...
