Missing Heirs, Rakes, Dukes... it's a busy September!

Hello lovelies!

It’s September already, which means this year has flown past and its almost the Holidays again! This year I will remember to order cans of pumpkin online because they don’t have ready made pumpkin pies in the shops here! I prefer to make my own, anyway, because I can make the spices how I like them. My daughter’s off to university this month so I think there might be a few tears. (Definitely mine)

I went up to Stranraer two weeks ago for a book event. It was a beautiful place and I met some lovely authors and got to go to Scotland for the first time ever! This month is the Jane Austen festival in Bath. It’s always amusing to turn a corner and bump into a group of Regency costumed people shopping in the stores. I’m not attending the balls but there are some great talks and walks to go to so I’m going to do that.

Book wise, we’ve got Miss Morton And The Missing Heir coming out at the end of the month and Only Rakes Need Apply in October. Only Rakes received a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly which was a very nice boost. Here’s a little quote:

"The riveting friends-to-lovers romance makes the pages fly while Pearce’s commentary on the gendered double standards in Regency society adds depth. It’s hot, heartfelt, and addictive."

I’m busy writing book 2, How To Ruin A Rake, which will be out next year.

Wishing you all a lovely September,

Kate

Miss Morton and the Missing Heir

Society in Regency England is most unforgiving of a reversal of fortune, as Miss Caroline Morton, left penniless after her father’s suspicious death, knows all too well. Once a lady, now a lady’s companion, she is still enmeshed in the settling of the earl’s estate—and soon murder as well—in this charming cross between a Regency romance and a well-constructed detective story” (Kirkus Reviews) for of Victoria Thompson, C.S. Harris, and Deanna Raybourn.

Distraught over her younger sister Susan’s decision to leave for America and weary of shepherding her employer Mrs. Frogerton’s daughter in her relentless pursuit of marrying a peer, Caroline is dealt another blow when her family solicitors indicate they may have found the lost heir to the Morton earldom.

Possible heir Thomas, his mother Mrs. Scutton, and her widowed daughter Mary all descend on Mrs. Frogerton’s home on Half Moon Street. The air inside the house is soon thick with family tension and the near palpable presence of avarice. But things go from tense to tragic following the appearance of Mary’s dead husband—very much alive and recently released from debtors’ prison. Unseen by Caroline and Mrs. Frogerton, a fight breaks out upstairs, leaving Mary fatally stabbed and her mother wounded.

The manhunt is on for Mary’s husband, led by Inspector Ross. But both Caroline and Mrs. Frogerton begin to suspect that all is not as it seems The Scuttons have brought more than trouble into the home—they may be harboring secrets that could put Caroline and Mrs. Frogerton’s very lives at risk . . .

A free book for you this September: The Duke's Unwilling Bride by Vivian Murdoch

Joseph and Teresa's Book

No good deed goes unpunished.

When I agreed to help my friend unload his ward on some unsuspecting gentleman, I never expected to find myself walking into the parson’s trap.

It is unfortunate for her that I am not the kind, indulgent sort of husband she must have hoped to ensnare.

And although I have every intention of claiming her the way only an Alpha can claim his omega, her deception cannot go unpunished. Bound in my ropes, she is subjected to every devious, delicious torture I can conjure up.

But the more I exact my revenge on her beautiful, willing body, the more I find myself craving her. Her scent, her touch, her wicked, quick wit. If I am not careful, I risk losing the one thing I have sworn no woman would ever be allowed to own.

My heart.

Only Rakes Need Apply by Kate Pearce

Hello lovelies! Lots going on this month! Only Rakes Need Apply comes out and it’s a special one for me. When I started writing I wanted to get a steamy historical romance published and that never happened. I had erotic historical romances, cowboys, urban fantasy, erotica, etc., but I ended up self-publishing my steamy historicals. So, getting this trilogy published with Kensington kind of completes that writerly circle and I had such a blast writing them. I’m currently writing book 2 of this...

Authors Invade Scotland

Hello lovelies! The sun has been shining ferociously on my poor un air-conditioned head and I’ve been boiling like a steamed pudding. I much prefer the cold weather, but it is nice to see the sun. My son’s over from California, which is lovely, and my daughter’s finished college, and is all set for university in September. She has an unconditional offer and only has to pass to get the place so we’re pretty confident she’s got in. It will be the first time we won’t have a child in the house...
